This year we grew 17 varieties of beans to dry, can and freeze, to grow for seed and to  provide to our five CSA families.  We also trialed pinto beans for our  dry land bean and grains project.

These are beautiful!   They are beautiful on the bush or vine, beautiful and tasty as a snap bean or a dried bean. And beautiful as a dried bean.  Here is a list of and pictures of our beans.  Note the color of the flower and the type of plant.  All added much to our garden landscape.  NOTE:  all are from organic non-GMO seed companies.  I have listed the company where we purchased the seed.  Some varieties are being raised for seed for next year.  We wish to thank Krista Rome of the Backyard Bean and Grain Project for helping us to identify beans and provide some heirloom seeds that will grow here.  We would also like to thank Lissy Andrews and her husband for donating fencing that we used to support our pole beans.
